The Switch4Schools app allows for digital check-ins, real-time reporting, online support, daily resources, weekly reports, and lesson plans. Every Switch4Schools lesson plan and assessment package mapped to the New Zealand Curriculum — Health & Physical Education (Hauora).
30-sec check-ins
Every school day starts with a 30-second student check-in, completed on the Switch4Schools app. Students answer five simple questions — how tired they are, whether they've eaten, how they're feeling, the intensity of that emotion (can be set by age appropriate levels), and whether they'd like to talk to someone — and their responses flow directly to you as real-time data. It's a small moment that tells you a lot: who came in hungry, who's carrying something heavy, and who might need a quiet check-in before the day gets going. Teachers can also add their own custom questions, making the check-in work for whatever your school community needs to know. For a teaching principal with eyes on everything, it's the clearest possible picture of your students' wellbeing.
Lesson plans mapped to syllabus NZC
Every Switch4Schools lesson plan and assessment package is mapped to the New Zealand Curriculum, Health and Physical Education (Hauora), so you can see at a glance exactly which achievement objectives, key competencies and learning expectations each package addresses. With 72 assessment packages spanning 6 learning strands and covering NZC Levels 1 to 8, your planning is ready to go, no guesswork required.
Real-time data
Switch4Schools gives teaching principals a live window into the emotional and social wellbeing of every student in their school. Each day, students complete a 30-second digital check-in that captures how they're feeling — and that data is instantly available to you in a clear, easy-to-read dashboard. Weekly wellbeing reports surface trends over time, so you're not reacting to problems after they've escalated — you're spotting them early, when a conversation or a targeted lesson can make a real difference. For a teaching principal managing a classroom and a school simultaneously, that kind of visibility isn't a luxury — it's the difference between knowing your students and guessing.
Online support
The Switch4Schools Help Hub is available whenever you need it, giving you instant access to step-by-step user guides, how-to training videos. Whether you're setting up your first check-in, navigating your reporting dashboard, or troubleshooting mid-lesson, the Help Hub means you're never on your own — no matter how far from a city you are. For small and remote schools where specialist support has always been out of reach, that kind of on-demand help changes everything.
